A Work Day at The Fishhouse
Today I went up to Red Lake to replace some broken equipment on the fishhouse. I put on a new jackstand that was bent and rusted. I also repaired a broken winch used to lift the wheels to the traveling position. With the tools I had I didn't know how long it would take but I finished in half the time I thought it would take.
That left me some serious fishing time and it was a pretty good day considering that it was snowing and blowing pretty hard. In the 4 hours I fished I caught 7 eyes with only one under 17". So that one was given to the fisherman next to me who also had 1 fish under the slot. A bonus day of fishing and not having to go home to clean fish. Next week I have a week off starting Tuesday so I may get some fishing in if the lakes get a few more inches of ice on them, right now most have around 11" which is safe to walk or move around with wheelers and snow machines. Trucks and cars need about 3 or 4 more inches to travel safely. With some colder evenings coming by the weekend next week might be perfect for a few days on the ice with the fishhouse.
Keep checking the blog, a big fish might show his face....
