Ice Fishing Is ON

Today Z and I decided we couldn't wait any longer, it was a good ice fishing day so off to Red Lake we went. Ben at Ben's bait said he had a group the day before that had great luck on pike and eyes. When we got to Red we looked out and saw alot of open water, DAMN....we forgot the boat again. I hate when that HAPPENS!! We saw some other fishermen out on the ice so away we went. When we drilled our first holes we were in 4 feet of water and we didn't dare to try to get deeper because the open water was only 50 feet away. We then walked around the group hoping the water was deeper up the shore line....it was by maybe a foot.

We set up and started watching the group we walked around catch big pike after big pike. We talked to them and found out the party was set up by Bear Paw Guide Service and what a nice bunch of fishermen and guides. We are definately going to contact them this winter because they fish everyday and say they're on fish every day. Today they were and we watched and had fun doing so. Check out Bear paw Guide service at www.bearpawguides.com I know I'm going to. I'm also going to link to their service on my blog, it makes it easier for me to keep in touch with them too.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from today. Look back soon the season is just starting and real ice should be here soon. HEHE!!

Home sweet home, a safe distance away from the open water. Z's beer was definately a confidence booster.

I'm not so sure 4 guys standing together is the thing to do. Thirty yards out there was open water. Hey we're fishermen and we're having fun. Actually the ice was in good condition and no one was in danger.

Nice fish Greg!!

The Bear paw guide service was out on the lake fishing, a very nice son and dad combo. We're definately going to contact them this winter. The guide service sets up houses and guides out of the Westwind access.

Greg Clusiau had some lucky tip-up holes he caught quiet a few large pike.

Bill Olson of Hibbing holds up a nice pike he caught on a tip-up, I don't think it got measures but it looks like it was in the upper 30" class. On Red Lake all fish between 26" and 40" have to be realeased. Very nice fish Bill!!

When the day was done I'm the only one to bring home a meal, I was lucky enough to catch two 16" walleyes.

My Last 2 Days of Golfing in California

On wednesday I golfed with Donovon, Richard and Tom at the Muroc golf course on Edwards Air Force Base. Always a fun time and an almost impossible course when the wind is blowing, tahat days was perfect with just a slight breeze and mid 70 temps. The course was in perfect condition and the foursome made for a memorable round...THANKS!!

Friday took me up into the mountains to play Horsethief CC at Stalion Springs. This is one of my favorite courses anywhere and it was in great condition. I hope you enjoy the pictures and my next post will be a ice fishing trip on Red Lake.

A great mix of fairway and desert, the sand is like concrete and if you hit it into the brush you better make sure you can get your ball out with a club. Stick your hand in there and you might come out with a rattler attached to it.
