Great Night Of Fishing On Trout Lake

Yesterday was a work day for me at home and with the sun beat me up but Zach and I had plans to fish Trout Lake in the evening. We had hoped to get the Spaghetti Man to fish with us but Jeff took Mom and Dad out for a fish fry and couldn't make it. The wind made it rough fishing when we got out onto the lake but we caught 2 nice fish as soon as we were set up. After taking a few waves over the back of the splash guards and a couple over the side of the boat we had to move to the calm side of the lake to dry off.

Zach got a call from his brother Mike saying Katie wanted to get out fishing so we picked them up at the landing. We fished for an hour without any fish then Mike caught fire and landed 4 in a row and then allowed the rest of us to catch a few. It was a great night of fishing. I hope you enjoy the pictures and please go the the "My Video" link to watch Katie fight her fish.

Get out and fish they are biting,

Zach also is the best photography wizard there is, here he has Mike holding one of his monster fish he caught.

We fished for a long time then Mike got the hot hand and started catching fish.

Zach caught this 22' fish about 20 minutes later, the wind was so bad we had waves coming over the splash guards in the back and a couple over the windward side of the boat. We moved till the wind went down and picked up Mike and Katie.

Zach and I went out on Trout Lake last night and I no sooner put my line in the water and had this 26' eye tugging on my line. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

MTT Walleye Tourney on Winnie

Last weekend Zach and I fished the MTT walleye tournament on Winnie on Saturday. We have talked about it for awhile and Z didn't have a guide trip so we entered. It was a windy day but we had great places to fish and we did alot of catching. We had all our box limit of fish in the first 3 hours and did find some bigger fish just before weigh-in. All and all we did great and placed in the top 10 finishing 9th. We won our entry fee back and a few bucks, I feel we did a great job and beat some MTT regulars to boot. Of the 75 boats entered we were 1 of the 16 boats that were able to weigh a limit of fish, with at least that many boats had no fish to weigh.

This was fun and with our entry fee back Zach and I plan to fish a few more MTT events.

Stay tuned for more up-dates and I hope you enjoy the pics below,

A couple of weeks ago Zach and I had made a trip to Leech Lake to get a change from the Winnie bite that has been great. We tried Leech Lake and found alot of big fish. Although the limit on Leech is only 4 fish there is a larger lower slot of 18" so the 8 fish we kept weighed what 6 Winnie eyes would have been. It was a nice change and I would recomend anybody looking for a change to give Leech a try.

I was setting up for fishing last night and a Great Blue Heron landed on the shoreline in front of me. He walked the edge and picked up 2 fish for his dinner. It was fun watching him freeze just before he caught his fish, and then his head and neck would blur with speed as he poked his prey. Watching him was as fun as the fish I was catching. Hope you enjoy the picture and a special view of nature.
