Sunday was too nice of an evening to sit at home so off to Trout Lake I went. The bite wasn't fast or hard but I did manage to catch 8 walleyes and 4 smallies in 4 hours. I was by myself and I forgot how enjoyable it is to do what you want, when you want to do it. All of the fish were in the slot and had to be released, but that's why you fish Trout, to catch quality fish that put up a good fight.

Most of the bites I had were on crawlers but I did catch 2 walleyes on leeches.

Most of the eyes that I caught on Sunday night were 20"-25" and were caught out of 25' of water.

I tried to fish the rock reefs on the west side of the lake and caught only small mouths. This one was about 18", the 3 others that I caught were smaller.

Bruce came up this weekend wanting to go fishing. Zach suggested we go to Round Lake and try jig and a minnow. It was a cool morning and it never warmed up. We found fish and had to drift as the waves prevented all trolling, because I didn't want to get wet. Not much of a guide EH Zach. Anyway Bruce caught this 24" eye that was released.

Round lake was rough with a 20 MPH wind. Drifting was the only thing that would work, and a cold day that kept us bundled up. We caught 9 fish and of those we had to release this 20+ " fish.

Griffin battles a bass that was wild jumping out of the water.

Zach holds up a fish he helped Griffin land. We put in alot of time trolling on Pokegama and needed to find fish for Griffin. We caught about 8 fish under a bridge deck and this made Griffins day. Along with Z letting him drive his boat, at 47 MPH.

Zach found a school of bass under a bridge and after rerigging our rods we couldn't keep them off our lines. Nice fish Griffin.

Last week Z and I spent hours on the Mississippi River trying to figure it out. We caught 4 nice fish but really never found a pattern that worked. Tired and wanting some decent action we stopped at Trout Lake before sunset and caught 6 fish in an hour. As much as we like different waters to fish its nice to come to home waters to finish a good day on the lakes of Minnesota.

Untangling a walleye to be released.

As you can see a calm night doesn't prevent the fish from biting, very nice fish Zach!

Late one evening we fished Trout Lake for an hour before sunset and found some nice walleyes.

Zach holds a nice keeper walleye. With summer finally underway rigging crawlers and leeches is a productive way of fishing
