The Last Ice Fishing Trip Of 07...Maybe

This weekend I talked Brother Bruce into going ice fishing one last time this year. We thought there were others that we had promised to take and would ask them, when all had been asked it was just us two. Away we went to the Lake Of The Woods, hoping to get into the end of the season walleyes. March can be a great time up there but it was one of those “you should have been here yesterday” kind of weekends. We struggled but caught a lot of small eyes Friday night and Saturday morning. Bruce decided to take a tour and see if anyone was catching any fish. We were catching more than most, but a few houses had been near the inner gap of Pine Island and saw some big fish caught. A kid at Morris point had caught a 30” walleye that went 10 pounds 3 ounces. At about 3 PM we lifted the house to move to the gap. We must have been late because there were already 15-20 groups set up already. We found an empty area and set up.

We saw fish immediately and were jigging our butts off without success. When they did start biting they were the same size as we saw earlier….SH!T….At about 6 o’clock Bruce shouted I’ve got a big one!! Fifteen minutes later he pulled up a 26” eye….WGT BRO!! I caught 1 other eater of about 15 inches and that was it for the night bite. Off to the bar we went and watch the final WCHA game…..GO GOPHERS!! Sorry Josie UND lost. I really was looking forward to the party, maybe next year. Sunday morning the fishermen showed up before dawn. With a few groans and a couple of OH SH!TS we got up and started fishing. I caught 2 small ones right away then I hooked into an 18” eye. We got one more for the bucket then it was over. An hour later we packed up and left, it was nice to get home at a decent hour. We got stopped 2 times when fishermen saw the FOR SALE signs on the house. There is some interest out there, it may sell yet. That was probably Bruce’s last ice fishing trip of the season. I hope to sneak up to Red Lake one more time. Enjoy the few pics I took and watch the video of Bruce’s big eye.

Later..Possibly with a few more ice fishing pics,

I was the 8" eye slayer, I must have caught 10-15 of these monsters. Well it was some kind of action I guess. We did catch 5 fish big enough to keep so Bruce brought home a nice meal. Great week end BRO!!

On Saturday evening we moved the fish house to the inside gap of Pine Island. We had heard that they were catching some big fish. We saw a picture of a 30" fish caught there. Bruce wasn't quiet that lucky but he found a nice 26" eye...WTG Turtle!

After catching more than a dozen of 6 to 10 inch walleyes I finally caught an 18" fish Sunday morning.

A Vist To Z's Cabin

Zach and his friend Dave were out at the cabin prepping the fireplace so that the rock can placed on the outside in a few days. The cabin is coming along, but slowl. For those who don't know Zach got his left hand tangled in the table saw. His friends are pulling together and helping with the finishing work on the cabin. If it weren't for his accident he would probably just be cleaning before its sale by Grand Rapids Realty.

I took some pictures of his hand, I hope you will look at them but I understand if you can't. Zach also walked through the cabin and has a video of all the rooms that you can view. It will be in the link with my videos.

It looks like Bruce and I are going to go fishing this weekend. It may be the last outing before open water fishing so hope fully we can catch a few fish for the last post for the winter season.

Its late and my mind is in melt down stage, I worked 3 hours weaving "WHACK EM N STACK EM" into the rod I'm building myself. In a few minutes after this post I will make it into bed before midnight, to much fun for one day.

Nitey Nitey,

Here's a picture of Zach's best BUD....Tika(hopefully I spelled it right).

This is the scenic view out of the cabin window. A summer scene would be very inviting right about now.

Zach was working alone last week on the cabin and was ripping a piece of wood. It got caught and pulled his left hand into the saw blade. His thumb was mangled and it required surgery. He lost his index finger and the tip of his middle finger. You'll see in the next phote he was lucky not to loose more of the middle finger. The pin sticking out of the thumb bandage is to align the bones so that hopefully he will have use of his thumb eventually.

The index stub of Zach's finger has stiches top to bottom as you'll see in the next photo. Also notice the nicks on his middle finger, he was lucky that he only caught the tip of that finger. As you see it could have been the hole thing. All our prayers go out to you for the best recovery possible.

Zach's finger looks to be healing nicely. The stiches look good and the color shows good circulation. Take care of it bud!!

Added A Counter Again

While I was trying to fix the blog it was suggested to remove the counter I had because bravenet had errors in their script...or so I was told. The new counter starts at 5000 and will count all hits. I went to another counter site so I see I have an add below it for LL BEAN, I guess nothing is free.

Also I have a link on the right side called "Watch My Videos" this will direct you to the fishing videos that I've taken and you can watch them in my AOL account. I hope this will work out for all and I will check it out to make sure all is current. The blog will also not show a months worth of posts like it had been. If you want to see previous posts please go to the archives there is over 2 years of fishing and family posts. Feel free to view as many as you like The Fishhouse has a great history that may interest you.

I hope the changes won't inconvenience any of the regular visitors and I hope you return soon. I'm really not sure if I fixed the blog or blogger.com (blogger host) made changes that allowed you back into the blog.

I hope I can see the counter start rolling to bigger numbers soon,

FISH HOUSE FOR SALE

I went up fishing on Tuesday to take pictures of the fish house and do some fishing. Bruce said he will sell the house if the price is right. It's in its third year of use and would be considered in good shape. A few things would be done before the new owner would get it but just maintenance items.

The best offer over $5200 will own the fish house. There will be alot of great memories attached to the trips made in this house. Many a good friend has been hosted for fishing trips.

Thank-you all, enjoy the following pics.....I hope the blog keeps working,

All four bunks fold flat to the wall if you want to fish all the holes in the house. The matresses can be bungee corded from the ceiling so you hav all the room you need to fish.

All holes in the fish house have catch cover holes that are tight so that you have no problems with snow or critters getting into the house.

This bed usually stays down all the time even though there is a hole that can be used under it. there are 9 holes that are usable without it.
