Try Fishing A Clear Day

Earlier this week on Trout Lake we were trying to fish walleye in deep 15-20' of water with little success. So being creative fishermen that we can be we went to fish smallies in the shallows. Much to our suprise we found walleyes in 5-7' of water and as we got close they slowly swam out deeper. With rods ready we through a jig and minnow their way and started to catch 8 eyes in about 3 hours and in a number of different areas. I guess if you look in areas that may seem strange you might find some gems and a new way to fish successfully.

If the fish aren't in the areas that they should be, look where they shouldn't be and you might suprise yourself and your fishing partner.

Catch and release,

As you can notice this is a calm bluebird day and we were catching walleyes in 7' to 12' of water. It can be done with the right technique and patience. We caugh about 10 fish just cruising the shallows and casting to fish we saw swimming out to the deeper water.

The walleyes on Trout lake are real scrappers, even this 18" fish took out drag from my reel.

A Few Fishing Outing To Post

The fishing has been spotty and no pattern has been seen on most lakes. The water temperature has not warmed enough to get the shiners to to spawn creating some tough fishing for all the guides. You find fish one day and hope they will be there the next, many times they aren't. We need some warm stable weather, the fronts passing through daily has kept most fishermen guessing as where to find the fish.
I hope you enjoy the following pictures and hope you are lucky to find the good fishing that is out there.

A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work,

Zach helped out a friend and took a Texan on a one day guide trip. We had planned to go fishing so he let me go along and we caught about 45 fish on Round Lake that day. As you can tell it was windy and cold.
