A Hot Tip on Red Lake....We're Off

Coming off night shift I was pumped to go fishing, I had it in my mind to try out my new GPS and go to Big Winnie. I was getting my tackle ready when I thought to call Zach and see if he had heard of any good fishing anywhere. All of a sudden I wasn’t fishing Winnie any more, we were headed crappie fishing. I get to his house and off we go to pick up Reed. We stopped at Ben’s Bait for guess what…Bait. While talking to the locals about the hot spots, Bowstring pops up and I say that at work some rumors were flying that they had caught fish there. A change again off to Bowstring, but wait!! On the way north of Deer River I get a call from my son David, saying that Red Lake had a good weekend with some nice fish being caught.

Needless to say after some discussion off to Red Lake we went. We actually went to Red Lake and catch perch, walleye and crappies. It was a beautiful day and the company was great I hope you enjoy the pictures. The fishing may be starting to pick up on Red Lake, let’s hope so.

I hope all are enjoying the excellent fishing weather by getting out and fishing,

Thank-you Linda for sending some more pictures of our trip to Lake Of The Woods. It was nice seening what was important from the eyes of a Floridian, I hope you send the blog address to your friends to show them how crazy you and your friends are. I had trouble getting the pictures onto the blog as I said in the e-mail I sent you. I got these pics on just before I left for night shift. I hope all readers enjoy the added pics.

Till the next fishing trip,

Another Lake Of The Woods weekend

I finally got Mickey out ice fishing this year and it took his friends from Florida to do it. Greg and Linda ask Mickey to set up an ice fishing trip months ago. So we spent the weekend up on Lake Of The Woods and caught enough fish for a meal. The fishing was slow at best and if we could have landed the fish we hooked it would still only be average. It was a new experience for Greg and Linda although they ocean fish regularly down in Florida. All in all I think they had a great time, I hope you enjoy the pictures of the outing. I hope that Greg and Linda try it again someday. Mickey may get out once or twice yet this winter, our schedules are not matching very well so finding enough time to get out has been tough. He whines about the time I’ve spent fishing this year but I can say that he has had the opportunities and has had conflicts that has kept him off the ice. I guess you have to enjoy the time you get. The time and the companionship is what is important and many times you can’t put monetary value on that.

Fish when you can and enjoy the day that’s given to you,
