CHS Prom 2007

Well Jackie pulled off another prom without collapsing from exhaustion. I believe she had 48 couples that enjoyed this years prom. This years theme was "Arabian Nights" and it had a very classy look to it. Alot of glitter and lights to highlight the pieces displayed. I took a few pictures and a video of the kids dancing so be sure to go to the "my video" link to watch it.

Enjoy the pictures,

The First Sucessful Boat Trip of 07

Zach missed the last couple of ice fishing trips this year because of his accident and he's been chomping at the bit to slay some eyes. Knowing this I convinced him into a trip to Rainey River today. I was coming off night shift so he drove as I tried to catch some ZZZZZ's....HEHE...GET IT!! Anyway I get more than a little squirelly on no sleep. Also you'll notice a ton of spelling errors.....TOOOOOO BAD!! Anyway back to the trip at hand, We got to the landing at about 10Am and were fishing by 10:30 not bad for over 100 boats at this landing. I ended parking the truck almost 2 miles from the landing...I told Z it was only a half mile....WAS he pissed when he went to get the truck when we left. He thought he was lost or took a wrong turn. His truck was almost last in line down this gravel road.

We saw one idiot being ticketed for having an eye over 19 1/2", he thought he could keep one over 28"...NOT. Pay for the mistake please...HEHE!! The action wasn't as fast and furious as everyone expected but we caught enough fish and a few big ones to keep us happy. Enjoy the pics and I hope everyone is looking forward to the opener.

I'll try to find a few posts before then...Stay Tuned!

Zach was like a race horse out of the starting gate, he caught 3 small eyes and this monster in the first half hour. It looked like we could catch 100 fish today. Need I say things slowed down quickly and we had to run down river to find some action. This fish was 29" and was a great picture for the blog....WTG Z!!

Here's another angle of Zach's 29" eye.

I had a tough time getting my first bite so I had to prove that I was catching some fish.....Neat angle after I looked at the pic....ENJOY!!

Along with the walleyes being caught every once in awhile we saw someone fight really big fish.....STURGEON!! We probably saw 5 or 6 caught today. I would like to have touched one but Z wanted nothing to do with them. This one was 61" and who knows how much it weighed.

Another nice eye in the boat next to us.

After Zach's quick start to the day things slowed down and we took off down river to see where all the boats were going. We found a ledge along a large oiece of ledge ice and I started to catch fish in numbers. I caught about 7-10 small males.

After hooking alot of small males in the afternoon I hit a decent size one. This fish was about 20". Not bad for fishing on no sleep for about 26 hours.

We saw alot of big fish caught today many were in the 25-27 inch class. We heard of a few over 30 inches. The fish are just starting to hit on the Rainey River....too bad the season is almost over.

I started slow this morning and finally started catching small male EYES but about an hour before we left I set the hook on a fish. A minute later I told Z that this is a big ONE!! It measured 28" but it was full of eggs and it weighed 9lbs 3oz, a great fish anytime of the year. A definate trip maker. :-))

Another view of my big fish, this will be a great start to the open water season for me. The bar is set high to find a bigger fish this year.

I Haven't Been Posting....I've Been Busy

You've probably been wondering if I gave up BLOGGING, nope.. been busy with all the spring activities that need to get done before open water fishing. I hate to use the word spring right now because our weather can be described as winter in April!! With more snow predicted over the next 2 days, we may be looking at an opener that could be really S L O W. We've suffered through them before and caught fish but it takes the fun out of fishing. "IDEA" bring extra beer!!

I do have 20 dozen jigs that aren't spoken for so if you want a couple of dozen get in touch with me or visit Ben's Bait in Grand Rapids, he's selling 15 dozen.

I'll try to keep in touch more often as I watch the snow melt and the ice come off the lakes. BTW there may even be a golf season if the weather warms up. We can only hope.

Well its this time of the year and "WINNIE JIG" making time has come and gone. YEP I've finished tying this year supply of jigs and there are 20 dozen left. Get them while you can.
