Kind Of Between Seasons

Well there still is some ice fishing to be done, but tomorrow I'm going to Rainy River to do some early walleye fishing in the river. This is the time of the year that you have a chance to catch a big UN! Bruce and I will meet Zach and Reed at the Rainy and will fish on Saturday and Sunday morning, hopefully I will have some pics of at least 1 monster walleye. BTW we won't be alone, I would expect at least 100 other fishermen in sight, pictures will confirm this.

If nothing else a good time will be had by all.......4SURE.

Posting Pics the Hard Way

Well I got the pictures posted and they go along with the text below. Picasa still isn't running so I had go back and use Hello, it works but is not as user friendly. I hope you enjoy the pictures and maybe I will have some more tonight, heading out with Z this afternoon.

Later,

Sorry!!

I've been trying for 4 days to post some pictures of the weekend fishing trips that I made and was only able to publish 1 picture. What gives Picasa you are LAGGING. I'll tell you about the weekend instead and keep trying to post the pics. On Saturday Z and I went to Portage lake and caught too many perch to count and 18 crappies of which we kept 11. On Sunday we sat on Bowstring Lake and caught 1 perch, the seal kill as they were calling it up on the lake didn't happen. Monday I went on an early morning trip to Portage Lake and caught 8 nice crappies as are pictured below.( The only pictures I've been able to post in 4 days).

I hope to be fishing tomorrow but will have to see if I get my errands done, scheduling can be a bitch....HEHE!!

Ice fishing may just be picking up....fish if you can,

I'LL BET YOU THOUGHT I LEFT THE COUNTRY

I KNOW…..I KNOW I have been slacking as a blogger, it’s that time of the year when the fishing gets slow and you seem to fish and come back with only a hang-over. I don’t think I have to publish those numbers for all to see. Lets just say its happened too often.

Yesterday I took a flyer to Bowstring even though I’ve been headed that way before earlier this year, I made it this time. With all the snow and the warm temperatures I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it onto the ice…BTW the way back was much more exciting. I’m sure there was a rooster tail of slush flying behind the ol’ Dodge, those new tires I bought earlier this year saved my @ss. Even if the getting onto and off the ice was exciting, I did manage to catch a meal of fish.

I hope you enjoy the fish pics and the pictures of the new…USED.. boat that I bought.

Think great late ice fishing, and then open water,

I have been fishing although it's been slow. Here's a nice 12" crappie, but it seems small compared to the perch below.

This perch made the 12 inch crappie above look small, I've only caught 2 larger perch!!

Here's a view from the back of the Lund Alaskan boat I bought. I'm thinking summer fishing already.

WTG Bill

Yesterday was such a nice day I had to go fishing…HMMMMMM…..I guess I’ve said that a lot this year. Anyway Bill and I went to Red Lake in search of crappies and perch, we found some fish but no a lot but the beautiful day made up for the slow catching. The big thing was that Bill caught his first Red Lake crappie and it was a good one……WTG Bill. The snow conditions up there are getting dicey so caution should be used as you go off the roads. I’d like to pull the wheeled house out to fish this weekend but the snow on the lake and some slush under the snow that we found has me thinking…..going fishing or going fishing and being dumb. Always something to consider. Well I have a few days to think about it.

Hope you find some fish on your next outing,

I caught 2 walleyes and a couple of perch. I guess I couldn't force a smile because it was late in the day and I was getting pretty tired. Nobody said fishing isn't work.

It was a peaceful warm day on the ice yesterday. Fishing wasn't great but the day was beautiful.

Hillman's started moving their sleeper houses to a new location. Hopefully they found a school of fish.
