Dannielle Vitali.....Cross Country Runner

Dannielle Vitali daughter of Jeff Vitali is following in her Dad's footsteps and doing a great job running cross country. She recently ran with the Chisago Lakes team in their conference meet placing 11th. She looks relaxed and strong enough to surpass Jeff's accomplishments in running. WTG Danni keep up the good work.

Send pictures and a story and it will appear,

Rudy and Ann celebrate their diamond anniversary – 60 years together

The Vitali clan gathered at Bill and Patty’s new home in Maple Grove to celebrate Rudy and Ann’s anniversary. Friday night we gathered at Bill’s to enjoy a relaxing meal (not for Gina who prepared Beef Wellington – delish) and an evening of reminiscing. Of course, we ate and drank too much in preparation for the continued celebration Saturday. Bella, Bill and Patty’s new addition (a blue eyed northern Italian – spaniel mix), was wary at first, but warmed up to the family invasion.

Bill documented all for the world to enjoy.

Well if nothing else Mickey's predictable

Yesterday was Mickey's fishing day and left all the decisions to him. Well we went to Dark Lake as predicted and crawlers were the only bait that was going to catch fish. Being the the good guide that I am, I let him use the chosen bait of knowing anglers. Micky lost at least 5 big walleyes although he never had a fish hooked long enough to get a look at, he just had really big walleye bites. HMMMMMMMM. He did catch 2 northerns and snagged another in the belly. I struggled with a jig and a minnow and caught 8 northerns and 1 walleye of about 3 pounds, not bad using inferior methods and bait.

Other than the fact that it rained for most of the trip and then having to listen to Mickey's constant dialog of each bite, nibble and the ultimate...Dammit I missed another walleye, we had fun. I still have the rest of the week off so I think I'm golfing today and the 1 more fishing outing this weekend before the boat gets winterized. Yes I did say winter, ITS coming sooner than most will want to admit.

I'm heading out to California on October 25th for a week, hopefully I will be able get some nice pictures up in the mountains and on the golf courses. Looking forward to seeing Bella, Griffin, Alyssa and D. Also the local live in zoo of 2 dogs and 2 cats. I'm looking forward to a nice day here, I hope you can enjoy yours.

Found another great day for fishing

Those who visit my blog daily.....Thank-you very much. I posted pictures of another great day of fishing, but i was too tired to write up the a narrative to go with it. Hey I can use big words once in awhile when I use them at work everyone laughs at me...HEHE. Well getting back to yesterdays fishing, it was a great day on the lake. The pictures will comfirm that fact. I caught a couple of nice walleyes and more than enough northerns. It was the time on the lake that was memorable, with only 2 or 3 other boats in sight it was a very peaceful day.

I'm going to try to get Mickey out fishing tomorrow and if it doesn't rain there might be a picture or 2. My guess is that he'll want to go to Dark Lake so it may be a fishless day but we can only hope for the best. I have finished the projects that needed doing around the house, bring on winter....give me your best shot.

Hope I can bore you again soon,

SUPRISE-SUPRISE

I promised myself I would go fishing in October and as it’s flying by, I forced myself to get up early from my last night shift and go fishing. I got underway about 11 A.M. and decided to try Pelican Lake for some crappies. I haven’t hit them the last 2 years and was hoping to get lucky today. Today was a perfect day for fall fishing 60 degrees and very little wind I thought it would be a slam dunk for crappies. WELL the crappies had a different idea, I criss-crossed the deep hole where they should be 2 or 3 times and saw no schools of fish and probably didn’t see even a single fish. Go figure….where could they be. Being the fexible fisherman that I am I said lets catch some fish, whatever color they maybe.

Off to the rocky shore line near some islands that I like to fish. After catching 3 nice northerns and having them put up nice long fights I was optimistic. A little ways down the shore line I had a big fish on, and it didn’t feel like a northern. Surprise it was a 22” walleye, Pelican doesn’t have a lot of walleyes but the ones you catch are usually nice size fish. I found that the walleyes were in 18-22 feet of water and in the next 3 hours I caught 5 more large walleyes….I actually caught 2-22”, 1-20”, 2- 18” and a 26” walleye. I released the 26” fish. I had a lot of limits this spring but this may have been the nicest stringer of fish I caught this year.

I guess sometimes you do have to force yourself to get out and it does payoff. Besides the anticipation of some great meals of fresh fish to look forward too…the best part was the picture perfect fall day that I got to enjoy. I hope all readers get to enjoy a fall day of fishing, hunting or any outdoor activity because fall is the best season of the year in northern Minnesota. :-))

Enjoy the nice days…SNOW is coming…. bet on it!!

I forgot to take my camera fishing so Here are the results of a great day. I wish October would last 3 more months. Posted by Picasa

HEY ....Dummy SUMMER is over!!

Well I know that fall is here by looking at the calender, but winter is coming soon today we saw snow flakes . It had to happen and for once the forecasters predictions were right on. There were no accumulations but those listening to the news saw the feet of snow they had in the Dakotas. Soon to be moving east to Minnesota, then comes the fun....ICE FISHING. HEHE ....

Before that though I have to have more fun, I'm enetered in a golf tourney this Saturday, the starting temperature will be 32 and hopefully it will be 50 when we get off the course. When you need gloves and a stocking cap, you have to be having fun, well I'll let you know on Sunday.

It was too cold to ride my bike out on the trails today so I rode my stationary bike.....I HATE THAT WORSE THAN MY PAIN MACHINE!! It's going to take alot of will power to ride that damn thing this winter, my doctor say 180 minutes a week....SHIT, not looking forward to that.

Have to leave now, painting windows down in the basement, the fun never stops. NO you don't get to see pictures of me painting, boy are you guys a pain in the a$$.

May the flakes be with YOU too,

I've made resevations to visit the Hoover's in Cali in 3 weeks hope I have time to pack. Looking forward to seeing the grandkids, cats, dogs et al. HeHe hard to tell what I might find when I get out there. Nice weather for sure....I hope. I plan on doing some BBQing, some golfing and just gooooood old relaxing.
